"Electrolysis Rust Removal" - valid theory or bupkis?

I didn't do electrolysis in acid. I did it in salt water. I haven't made it all the way through the material that was linked to, but I think already I know something I didn't do right. I performed the electrolysis @ 2.5A for a few hours. That was too high current and not long enough. I'm going to try again once I finish reading the material and post back with the results.

If you use NaCl for your electrolyte, then the gases you release will be hydrogen and chlorine, not hydrogen and oxygen. Chlorine gas is extremely toxic.

The important part here is "from a feed mill". Feed grade molasses is sulphated while standard cooking molasses is not....the sulfur is important to the process.
That's why I always tell people "from a feed mill". Although the first time I tried it I used cooking molasses, it worked but slowly.

I use this process with rebar as the sacrifical anode. Works great and the anode is slowly dissappearing so I conclude that I am also replating.
