Eg4 Fault code 12 - DC/DC over current or surge

Hello! I recently bought an EG4 inverter with a set of 8 batteries for my office and I've been having all sort of problems with this code. Can you provide me some assistance in how to solve or troubleshoot this?

Someone told me that the battery is overcharged. I live in Venezuela so a repair shop is not something I can easily go to. I truly depend on these batteries to keep my business running.

If anyone know what to do please let me know.

Which model inverter are you using? I would not think an overcharged battery would cause this code, but I could be wrong. Usually something over current would either be a battery that is internally shorted and drawing a high charge current which if it hasn't already blown up would be very warm to the touch, or you are trying to power too big of a load from the batteries and it is not able to keep up.

Are you able to determine any sort of pattern as to when the code happens? Have you tried contacting the manufacturer? What exact parts are you using?

I probably won't have the answers, but I will give it a try.

I'm have the EG4 6500 ex 48V. I contacted the manufacturer but they haven't gotten back to me. As for the load, I've calculated the consumption and I have not stressed the inverter to that level. The batteries are not warm to the touch. The pattern happens only when charging the batteries from the grid. Using just hte batteries to power the house without charging them works fine.

Thank you for replying!

You are welcome. Part of the reason I try to help with things like this is for the educational value to myself.

I looked through the manual for ideas and the best I can think of is there is something wrong with your battery / charging settings. I don't know if you have any solar panels connected, but if so I would guess they are not capable of providing enough current to cause the code to happen. They may be perfect for your needs, but when it comes to charging you are most likely going to be able to get more power from an outlet which would make the solar part appear normal.

Something makes me want to say your battery settings are not correct and when it charges it is seeing values it does not expect to see.
