Eating food in the dark

I was snacking on food left on the counter in the kitchen, without the lights on. So I don't really know what's in the pot. It's winter time, so there's hardly any bugs in the house.

Would people in warm climates with lots of bugs eat food in the dark without checking for bugs ?

If you are sitting in the dark, eating something unknown out of a pot I would say bugs should be the least of your concerns. However, as to bugs and seasons of the year. I live in the Cleveland, Ohio USA suburbs and while bugs outside the house vary with the seasons bugs inside the house are not tolerated during any season.
