Dull segments on TI-36XPRO calculator?

I got the Ti-36XPro this year, and overall I love it. But now on the right side of the 4-line screen (5x7 each, dot matric character), there's a dull space on the right edge, like a 1/2 moon overlapping the right edge, like a smudge (dirty spot).

The battery still works in very low light, and I've knocked it 3ft onto the carpart 3-4 times (DOH).

What does that sound like ? If it was a low power issuse, it's awfully specific, I can't say I notice any contrast difference, until the last 3 columns, and there, the 2 midle rows especially, look like the contrast was turned down some.

Adusting the contrast, which has many steps (+10?, a lot, and the background still darkens), does make the dull segments look nice again, but again, there's a 1/2 moon lower contrast area on the right edge, that makes it look fuzzy/dirty.

So what's that sound like ? Can it just be weak contact between between the funny LCD strip ? (I must look them up, a niche product indeed)

I can't find the right USB cable, so no pic for now. If I have the overall contrast on 5/10, the weak bocks are like 2-3, plenty read-able still at least.

I've been noticing it over the last month or so, I can't say I dropped it then, but ??..........but I don't think it's the battery, not yet. There's no backlight or anything either, but it definitly wasn't like it new a few months ago. I better dig up a "new in package" battery and check anyways.

Sounds like typical drop damage? Usually only repaired by replacing the LED screen. But why are you still using the 36X? Was my goto for many years and even wore the labels off the buttons from use but now using an old TI-83+ as it does some things better than the 36X couldn't do.

I'll have to open it up anyways, if pressing down on the area doesn't help, I'll just have to live with it. A graphing calc would be nice, but I have a few PC programs, that I never got into yet anyways.

I don't even use it for graphing. There are better PC programs for that. The 83 handles imaginary number calcs better than the 36. Also, multiline display even though the new 36 does have 2 lines now. Plus its editing capabilities while entering long calcs. And the newer models are even better if a bit pricey.
