For ordinary applications, matching the first line is enough because this is the model number. Second line usually indicates power rating (like L, W etc.). The rest of the numbers often indicated batch number. I suggest you make a small purchase first to test. If everything is fine, you can order in bulk amount later.

Aside from one line giving the part number and the package vaiations, another line is often the production date, which usually is for recalls reference, and another line is productio data So mostly the part number matters.

These days, I'd be cautious of purchasing any components from eBay; especially if the part ships from China (they'll likely fix this by drop shipping from other countries) or if they give multiple part numbers that don't all apply to the parts shown. I guess that's their out for giving erroneous information. They showed a picture of the part.

I recently bought some auto parts from a supposedly US company. It was actually a Chinese company shipping things from southern California.

The type number should match! the two other numbers that I usually see are the date code annd the lot number. Those do not matter, usually. UNLESS you are trying to find a set of matched parts to use in parallel.

Thank you. You raised a very good and valid point. Yes, the second and third rows of numbers usually does not matter but a dependable supplier of course does. The sellers from Alliexpress, ebay etc. are not branded companies. So, poor QC and knock offs are very much possible. I have no first hand experience with ebay but I had been similarly disappointed by alliexpress before.

@trickyrick Keeping dl324's statement in mind, I recommend you choose a recognized supplier if possible. If you live in Asia or Europe, you can contact UNIKEYIC. They sell components and boards from STMicroelectronics. If you live in North America, you can go for digikey or mouser. Since the Ebay link you gave here shows an IC manufactured by STMicroelectronics, you can take a look at all official distributors of STMicroelectronics all over the world to get an authentic product.

In addition to buying from reputable sources I'd like to add that some third world countries get their hands on recycled electronics. They strip them for their components and then try to sell them as new. You have no idea of how they were stressed during their lifetime and you could be buying something that is on its last legs - barely working - or even already dead.

It's worst than that. They actually relabel the parts with any part number (all they care about is package type).
