I bought one of these in May 2023:

Yesterday I was shocked to see the display appeared faulty, very faded many of the segments in the digits were very dim, all washed out.

Now it looks better and I think it is the air temperature, this morning the room temp was 68F and it looked almost perfect, now its 76F and showing very slight signs of faded segments.

Yesterday the room was like 94F when it looked very bad.

Have others seen this? either this DMM or other gadgets with this kind of display?

Try holding a hair dryer at a setting that is not too high (if your DVM melts. The hair dryer is too hot or too close).

See whether you can control the contrast in your display by warming the meter up a little and letting it cool.

The inverted displays are problematic. They look cool but can be hard to read and require higher supply voltages to be readable meaning that your usable battery life is reduced.

Does pressing on the case at the top and/or bottom of the display change anything?
