Find daily, LCD televisions that sell for $nearfree; some truly free, some at the curb for any passerby, others in the garbage can...

Have you found any use for them ? People wants only the 'smart' type and the huge ones. I turned 3 into ceiling lamps for my basement/attic by removing the LCD screen and archiving the circuit boards to canibalize parts. Ran out of ceilings to make more lamps from them. Do you have any ideas to reuse ?

 

No, I let them go. Clever using them as a fluorescent ceiling lamp, though. Kudos. Whatever use they might have, I'm confident I'll be able to find one free if/when I ever "need" one.

 

I was given a dead 50" Samsung. I replaced two bulging caps with caps purchased from RadioShack for 4 bucks (tells you how long ago it was) and since then I've used it for a unique purpose – a TV.

 

Same here. Was given a 46” Sony smart-TV which had lost its smarts. But the HDMI connection somehow still worked, and I attached a $20 Roku and used it on the basement.

I'm the guy everyone comes to with their appliance's last stop before the trash. I've had many wins, especially after learning how often a bad cap in the power supply is the root cause. I need to watch for castaways in a better neighborhood, though. Around here anything bigger than 40" is pretty rare. A 50" or bigger is worth cracking open to take a look.
