I have a grid connected solar inverter and want to get an indication of when I am exporting or importing power.
I understand how current transformers work and think I could use one only problem is it would only give me flow not direction.
It is doable as power diverters are available. Any advice will be very appreciated.

 

You could compare the phase of the current waveform with the phase of the voltage waveform to derive the real power. The sign of the real power will reverse between importing and exporting.
