I'm putting circulation fans in a K9 vehicle. I'm controlling the two fans from a 3 position switch, and a thermal switch. The two commands are Rear Fan Only, or Both Fans.

I need to isolate the two commands, and I think the diode placement will do it. I need some confirmation, and which type of diode do I need?
