The following statement in the Diode page differs from what I learned.

Semiconductor diode schematic symbol: Arrows indicate the direction of electron current flow.

Electron current flows from negative to positive (the direction of electron movement). However, "conventional current" is assumed from positive to negative and that is the direction indicated by the arrow on a Diode (or bipolar transistor) symbol. Conventional current was established before the electron was discovered

OK, after a second look, I see that the arrows referred to are the dashed line below the symbol and not the arrow in the symbol itself. It is still worthwhile to point out that the arrow on the symbol indicated the direction of "conventional current". This can be a help when writing circuit equations.
