Hi all!

Last month I bought a pair of Denali DR1 Auxiliary motorcycle (single intensity) LED lights http://www.twistedthrottle.com/denali-dr1-single-intensity-led-auxiliary-lighting-kit-with-full-wiring-harness-m8-mount before realizing that the whole line of Denali 2.0 lights were coming out within a few weeks. A main feature between the 1.0 and 2.0s is dimming. The 2.0 harness features dimming capability that is (of course) not compatible the original harness or 1.0 lights.

I have read many posts on people dimming Denali single intensity lights with ADVmonster LED dimmers http://stores.advmonster.com/rotary-led-dimmer-with-high-beam-bypass/. This unit accomplishes dimming through PWM.

In this webBikeWorld review of the ADVmonster rotary dimmer, the author claims to have successfully hooked the dimmer up to a pair Denali lights via the electrical harness that came with the lights. In this setup, both the original ON/OFF power button works as well as the dimmer. http://www.webbikeworld.com/lights/motorcycle-led-dimmer/

I decided to buy the ADVmonster rotary dimmer. I hooked up the dimmer exactly the way review on webBikeWorld says to (hooking pos. and neg. lines from the dimmer to each light, and then splicing into the main power up right before the 5 amp fuse on the harness). On this setup the lights stay continuously on and are not able to be turned off except by removing the positive line from the dimmer to the main power before the fuse. Next, I tried to splice the power line from the dimmer into the ON/OFF button's pos. line right before it goes into the relay, but am still not able to dim.

I am not sure what to do next. I know that this is simple wiring and I should be able to hook up the dimmer while using the Denali electrical harness at the same time. I have included diagrams of the Denali wiring harness with my 2 setups. Any and all thoughts are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Looking at the drawings they seem a little confusing. The fine Black & Red from the ADV Monster that run to the Light Pods would require the lines to the pods (original lines) to be broken so the ADV Monster ends up in series with the pods. As drawn they don't show a break in the original wires to the pods. I can see why the dimmer, as shown, would not work. As drawn it looks like a "T" connection which makes no sense to me unless I am missing something? What exactly do the directions say to do? Do they mention cutting those wires and inserting the ADV Monster inline?

EDIT: I had the wrong wiring diagram. There is a slight change in the connection that splits off to each of the light pods from the relay. My apologies! Here is the updated diagrams!

Also there are no instructions that came with the dimmer. They have a wiring diagram on their website though I can not figure out how to make that work with the Denali wiring harness http://cdn1.bigcommerce.com/n-yp39j...m_current__11249.1395153485.1280.1280.jpg?c=2

The latter drawing from ADV Monster makes more sense. As drawn it should work. I can make a better drawing if you would like but as drawn it should work. When I saw your post last night I had just gotten home from a local Bike Nite, there is an irony there somewhere. :)

The ADV Monster is just a little PWM (pulse Width Modulation) unit, not much to them. If you are not going to use the wire for the High Beam rather than leave it floating disconnected I would tie it to Ground (battery negative).

Try this: Notice the yellow section of the drawing - it's yellow to indicate the area where the wires have been disconnected (A.K.A cut). But don't cut them in a way that you can't repair it; just in case this doesn't work.
