I'm wondering what frequency range the board is expecting for the PWM input.

The picture of the controller PCB does not show much heat sink associated with that single power device, although it is soldered onto the PCB. Power is changed into heat during the "on" portion of the PWM device, so that should be considered.

 

An alternative is to put a variable resistance one together such as shown in Fairchild, AN-3006

 

What specific sort of information was the TS wanting?? Performance? or reliability?? or possibly linearity of the output versus the input??

 

The specs shown in the Amazon link appear to be vague, the Raspberry Pi for example, which it claims to be compatible with, uses 3.3v I/O outputs?
