Hello,
Though did my graduation in BSc.Electronis, I have only a little knowledge in electronics....So, now doing MCA, chnaged the stream....But now I feel to come back to electronics....So, thought of starting with this project. I would like to setup a digital speedometer cum odometer in my honda Unicorn motorcycle...While searching th net, I came across http://kitsnspares.com/admin/pdffiles/Speedometer Cum Odometer.pdf and http://kitsnspares.com/admin/pdffiles/uC based Tachometer.pdf .
The first one is the circuit for speedometer cum odometer, and the second one is for the tachometer.
My doubts are:-
1) can both these circuits be merged?
2) can i replace the reed switch with hall effect sensor, as many say reed switch doesn;t work above 50 km speed
3) what modifications in the program need to be done in the program for my bike ?
4) and finally, is this a project to work into ?

Hello Roshgorg,
Unfortunately for your Topic, we no longer support discussions on automotive-type subjects, as stated in paragraph 6 of the Terms of Service:

6. Restricted topics. The following topics are regularly raised however are considered "off-topic" at all times and will result in Your thread being closed without question:
  • Any kind of over-unity devices and systems
  • Automotive modifications
  • Devices designed to electrocute or shock another person
  • LEDs to mains
  • Phone jammers
  • Rail guns and high-energy projectile devices
  • Transformer-less power supplies
Quite simply stated, there is simply far too much that can go wrong safety-wise when one starts trying to modify automotive-related circuitry. A decision was made many months ago to prohibit automotive modification topics altogether, as hobbyists really shouldn't attempt them; even professional engineers make mistakes that cost lives and property every day.

If you feel you must pursue your project against our best advice, you will need to seek help elsewhere.

A partial list of forums that may support discussion is here:
