Hi, am new to this forum. Am having difficulties fixing this Digital Energy Meter - the 2 front LEDs are lighting up but the LCD is not coming up. Please I need help.

Check that the lithium battery voltage is what it should be.

Have checked that(the battery is gone). Have replaced the battery by soldering on the other side of the board but it's the same thing

 

Where's the lcd? Just check voltages starting from the LCD and going towards the nearest power source until you find the fault or no fault.

The voltages of the 2 capacitors close to the LCD are OK even the Test point voltage is OK.

 

Has the board suffered any known mechanical, thermal or electrical stress which might have triggered the problem?

It was destroyed by thunder-strike(lightning)

 

In that case almost any of the semiconductor devices could have suffered from over-voltage. .
