Difference between Cypress Semiconductor PSoC 4 Protokit and PSoC 4 Pioneer, other than the obvious?

I am looking to boost my knowledge of embedded systems, MCUs and PSoCs as a student. I came across some low cost PSoCs from Cypress Semiconductor. There were 2 low priced series of PSoCs: 1 was the PSoC 4 Protokit (link below). It costs only 4 $ and I am ready to buy it.

The other is the PSoC 4 Pioneer kit, which costs 25 $, and is the size of an Arduino and can be stacked together. It certainly looks more capable. Link is given below

What I want to know is what is the actual difference between the 2 other than the cost and the obvious appearance to the layman. I checked the datasheet but they are very large, and since my knowledge of embedded systems is poor and limited to basic Arduino, I am not able to make the difference properly. I would like to buy both, but courses and assignments take up my time so I have to give little time only to this.

And by what I want know , I mean the tech specs, what I can do with the above, what can I do with one that I cant in the other etc.

Thanks in advance :)

Looks like they both contain the same Programmable System on Chip PSoC device family.

Here is what Cypress says about the pioneer kit:

"The PSoC 4 Pioneer Kit is highly expandable. It includes Arduino™ Shield and Digilent® Pmod™ compatible connectors, enabling customers to pick from a variety of third-party expansion boards. The new kit also includes a CapSense® slider, an RGB LED, a user button and more. In addition, an onboard PSoC 5LP device serves as the programmer and debugger, eliminating the need for external programmers."

The other kit seems more bare bones. If you do not need the extras, why pay for the options. You provide everything else. An experienced user can often get away with this because they have all of the additional pieces they require or a particular design that this will be used to drive.

If you are just learning, sometimes the extras of the pioneer kit can be invaluable, giving you access to items that are difficult to manage without more experience. The pioneer kit is marketed as "easy to use" because of the options.
