Checking your photo shots, I would say you will have serious problems in effective acoustic coupling and matching of the transducer, it appears you have used thick double side sticky tape to hold the transducer to the sample material???
Check this data regarding correct mount.

Soldering to the brass disk that the PZT is bonded to certainly requres great speed and much caution! Soldering to the opposite metalized surface of the PZT is even more demanding. Using a conductive adhesive is a lot safer and much less risky!!
