DC Voltage Motor Control

I'm wanting to control the voltage going to a 3.6vdc vibrator motor. Similar to your phone vibrator. I need it as small and as light as I can get it. It's going in a hiking backpack.

I want a circuit that will have 3 momentary switches. Two that will adjust battery voltage (up/down). And 1 to complete the circuit to the motor. On duration will never be more than approx. 10 sec. The demand will be in the 1v to 2.5v range and it will never be required at full battery voltage.

All the motor controllers I'm finding have a standard pot with a knob, extremely exceed my volt/amp requirements, and are too large. I don't need all the bells and whistles they come with. Looking for the most basic concept.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

A voltage divider (or series resistor) is as small and light as you can get. Inefficient, but you can't eat your cake and still have it.

Otherwise a 555/556 or microcontroller set up for PWM. Might be able to find and adapt a ready-made 555 break-out board set up for PWM with a small footprint.
