Several years ago I got a Jenny pressure washer with steam capability. The unloader valve and supply both dump into a tank a bit like a toilet bowl.

No drain on that tank and it gets gunk in it, so I decided to add a drain plug. Tank is SS and measures 0.050 over paint (18 gauge), but I suspect it may be 19 gauge. Alloy unknown, probably 304 or similar. Tub is about 7" deep x 4" wide x 12" long. I wanted to make a dimple and use an expanding plug often sold for boats.

I don't like working with stainless, but it turned out OK. So here is my show and tell (L to R, inside, outside, dimple dies):

The outside view looks off center, but that's an artifact from shooting at an angle. The far right picture is my test piece. It is 20 gauge. Edges are very smooth. Initial hole is nominally 1/2", but I made it a few thousandths smaller to get a nice fit on the male die. Die stretches diameter by about 1/16". The heavier gauge was a real stress for my "10 Ton" press., which only goes to about 8 T. Working at the bottom of the tub was the fun part.
