hi experts ! I m facing a critical problem during my recent project Automatic power factor correction system. in which i have used step down transformer (220 to 12V) for current sampling. but when i powered up my circuit transformer heated up and the power factor measurement accuracy changes ? is there any effect of transformer heating on power factor measurement.???????????

 

Can you please give us a schematic of the circuitry around the transformer including expected currents and voltages. Also what is the VA rating of the transformer?
