Hi all,

I have seen in most of the circuits, a high value (around 1 MOhm) resistor connected across the crystal oscillator. Please tell me the reason behind that.

Thanks,

Greetings anoopvishnu,

I did a little surfing around on the Internet and encountered this brief application note describing the basic design of a crystal oscillator. It mentions the various elements and the role they play in overall operation of the circuit.

Crystal Osc. App note

I believe it provides a good foundation on which to begin your exploration on the general topic of crystal oscillators.
