555's are an amazing piece of work. I am constantly astounded by the creative things people use them for.
As long as the pieces are spec'd, and labeled, and there are pretty little lines between each connection, I am pretty sure I can figure out what to do with them. If I get stuck during assembly, I have a friend who used to build custom circuits for a local company. He wasn't designing them, mind you, just assembling, but he does have a great deal more hands-on experience than I do... and these feeders are at his property, too, so he's probably inclined to see this be a success.
