Hello i am new to all this and im here to learn about electronics because i truly belive that the combination of eletronics and programming knowledge will be very usefull skill in the upcoming IOT era.

I would like to create a box with a timer lock where could i find those parts that would enable me to do this?

 

For a mechanism you could look into a magnetic latch solenoid, less required than motorized version.
