Hi, could anyone please help me identify this part? It's from the power section of a laptop main board. Could be a DC-DC converter or switching regulator. I can't even figure out whose logo that is...

Many thanks

Might be Siliconix or something like that

Siliconix looks the nearest match on the image wayneh linked.

As a totally wild guess - maybe a MOSFET, could be a dual.

You're right, thank you. It is a Siliconics / Vishay MOSFET!. Problem is, there's no reference to this particular part number, so I dropped them an email and have yet to hear from them. Wish I knew at least if it was P-channel or N-channel...

There's usually an omitted alphabetic prefix - sometimes you have to make an educated guess before their search bar can find it.

There are various types, but pin layout has a limited number of permutations. As long as the part isn't blown - you can try the various pin identifications for a few basic tests.

If you can identify gate and source; short them together - this turns off the channel so you can only measure the intrinsic body diode. which way its pointing tells you the channel polarity.
