Picked up a couple of Covid lateral flow test kits today, just in case they're needed at some point. Guess which country they're made in? That's right: China. Somewhat ironic, given the source of the pandemic. Conspiracy theory ammunition?

Next, the researchers looked at the ability to neutralize Omicron in two groups of individuals:

The individuals that had previously tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 infection did so in the first wave of the pandemic in South Africa, during which the prominent form of the virus was D614G.

Plasma samples were collected from each of the 12 participants.

“Geometric mean titer (GMT) FRNT50 (inverse of the plasma dilution required for 50% reduction in infection foci number) was 1321 for D614G,” the authors write in the paper. These samples therefore had very strong neutralization capabilities against this variant of SARS-CoV-2.

So what happens when the samples are tested against Omicron?

“GMT FRNT50 for the same samples was 32 for Omicron, a 41-fold decline,” the authors write.

While this figure might seem frightening, the researchers emphasize that neutralization escape by Omicron was not incomplete; five of the participants that had been previously infected – in addition to being vaccinated – demonstrated seemingly high neutralization titers against Omicron.

“It is important to interpret the data cautiously, as the investigators themselves point out. While the amount of virus-killing observed in the lab is reduced markedly – up to 40-times reduction – there is still measurable virus neutralization, especially in those who were vaccinated and previously infected,” Dr. Jonathan Ball, professor of molecular biology at the University of Nottingham, told the SMC. “This group effectively mimics what we would expect in people who had had two doses of vaccine plus a boost.”

 

Today Pfizer said that a booster shot (3rd dose) of their vaccine increases the neutralization of the Omicron variant 25 times more than with only two doses! Isn't that a conflict of interest? Another company should do the tests.
They assume that everybody knows that unvaccinated people will be super-spreaders and will be severely infected.

The 3rd dose mimics the effect of natural infection and vaccination working together.

The results we present here with Omicron show much more extensive escape. However, escape was incomplete in participants with higher FRNT50 due to previous infection. Previous infection, followed by vaccination or booster is likely to increase the neutralization level and likely confer protection from severe disease in Omicron infection.

So what I got from that is "don't lie about your covid status". She lied and they knew.

I remember the Cuban Missile Crisis.
The fear of total human annihilation is a tough feeling to live with as a kid.

My 3rd dose of Pfizer vaccine called the "booster shot" will keep the Omricon variant from making me seriously infected or dead.

Most new virus cases here are with little kids who are not vaccinated yet. But they usually have minor symptoms.
Hospitals are filling up with with seriously infected adult antivaxxers again. Maybe the antivaxxers will also refuse the new pills that reduce the infection? It is the hospitals who should refuse admitting the antivaxxers.

Why don't the antivaxxers see what the experts say every day, "Most people in intensive care units who are getting severely ill or dying are unvaccinated." That is why we have mandates and we are blocking unvaccinated people from doing anything.

Yesterday the South African scientist/doctor who tested the Omricon patients admitted that the average age of the population was fairly low.
Yesterday on MSM news there was an interview with South African and American actress and producer Charlize Theron who said how miserable it was living in South Africa and that her father was killed by a gun in South Africa because "everybody there has a gun".

We should not talk about race here but Wikipedia says "Crime, poverty and inequality remain widespread, with about a quarter of the population unemployed and living on less than US$1.25 a day".

Before you rubbish other countries poverty and crime levels, I suggest you take off your blinkers and look closer to home.
