Hi all,

Im brand new to this forum and electronics in general.

I have two devices - 95020WP and 95128WT that i need help with.

Basically, I would like to start by reading and copying the entire contents of these two eeproms to a safe location ie (my pc) before experimenting on any of their contents.

I am concerned that these are write protected eeproms or is it possible that they could even be read protected and how to know?

I found the data sheets for them and they show that they can be write protected

http://www2.st.com/content/ccc/reso...df/jcr:content/translations/en.CD00001441.pdf

I bought a minipro TL866CS to do this job... but im not sure anymore it will be up to the job.

Can anyone please tell me if I am able to do what I need using the tl866cs or do I need to get a arduino, some code, wires etc..?

And should I be concerned about write/read protection on these devices and how can I know what to be aware of and how to safe guide making any mistakes?

Any help would be much appreciated...

Thanks

You have the eeprom programmer and the eeprom. Wouldn't the easiest and surest thing to do to just read the manual and hook them up?

Unfortunately I don't have and cannot find a manual in english for the TL866 programmer... if there is anyone that has one or knows where i can get one i would be very greatful if you could let me have a copy...

The 95128 has to be the -D version for the extra functions.

It would take a while to read and understand the datasheet. Casually looking at them, write protect is not like blowing a fuse. It SEEMS more like to keep I and D space separate or to keep scratch and data separate. This is what I get when casually reading the datasheet. You don;t have that part. The (-D version anyway)

One issue is the supported device list: here is one such programmer (not yours) http://www.mcumall.com/comersus/store/mcumall_TrueUSBWillemsupportICs.asp that supports th 95128.

Hi there... thanks for your advice
The tl866 says it supports these devices...
I was just concerned that I could cause some damage to the eeprom's content... I will have a go at reading it... fingers crossed

ive tried with two devices 95020 & 95040 and neither of them will read... not sure if its the programmer, me, or if i am not setting something first within the sw interface... Ive searched all over internet again... and cannot find any user manual for the TL866CS... Its got good reviews all over the place though... anyone got experience with this?
