Hi

I am adding some security to my house by installing some intruder detection beams. The control device outputs a 4 second 12V signal when the beam is broken - so currently I can make a blue flashing light come on. However, I also want to play back an audio file with speech - something along the lines of "your presence has been detected and the police have been informed". The device at the link below looks ideal for this but needs a 'signal ground' trigger, rather than 12V. Can I convert 12V to signal ground? Is there a device to do this as my ability to build circuits is VERY limited?

use a mosfet to invert the input.
pull-up inside the soundboard will do the job clamp gate to gnd with a 47K resistor. ( to avoid floating when 12V is not connected)

Diodes optional.

R2 could be the onboard 10K if you short the button terminals
together for that pin.
