COnvert ipod charger to battery power.

All,

I have a project I am working on for Halloween. I need to convert a ipod charging dock from ac plug in to run on a battery. The draw on the plug converter says that it draws:
100-240v-50/60Hz 0.45A max
and outputs:
9.0V(then a line with three dots below it)1.5A

I think that means 9volts at 1.5 amp hours.
The dock charges ion batteries in the speakers, but I don't need that to happen off the battery, so I think I will have a longer life.

The unit is a Jensen wireless ipod dock and all I need to do is power the signal transmitter.

Even at 9V/1.5A how would I run this off of batteries?

I need it to last 6 hours. I don't really get the conversion formulas yet, so I thought it would ask.

Can batteries (like C or AA) be used to make this type of power?
If i strung 5 C batteries together, would that do it?

I am not sure how to figure out how many batteries give me what charge and for how long.

6 C or D sized cells might last you 6 hours:

6(cells)*1.5(volts approx)=9vdc
9(volts)/1.5(AH) = 6 hours :confused:

or you can check the calculations here to include rate discharge calculations and other things.... http://www.powerstream.com/battery-capacity-calculations.htm (or just keep some spare batteries;))


you will have to connect the batteries directly to the power input on the unit, don't use the wall wart (adapter).
