If you want better answers, it shouldn't be surprising that you need to provide better information.

 

At this point I am going to ask what the purpose of the discharge is. Certainly there is a reason to charge a capacitor and then discharge it. THAT will hhave a very large effect on any useful advice.

"Speeds" Do you mean at different rates?
What is the 'speed' you refer to?

 

A capacitor discharge speed would be in either coulombs per second or AMPS. or maybe wattseconds per second.

Well I guess we could label the speeds as fast, faster, Fastest and dearly beloved we are gathered here today...

Normally we just place a resistance across the cap. The amount of resistance determines the rate of discharge for the capacitor.

It might also be that a capacitor is discharged afterproducing a ramp wavefprm for some application. So it might also be a purely electronic application.
BUT we really need to know what the aplication is, as well as the voltages involved. Those details matter.

limit the current... the most obvious solution is to use different values resistors

Once again, asI asked in post #6, and others asked, for what application, and more important, what voltage and what values of capacitance??
The discharge could be as simple as switchng on a transistor across the capacitor, or it might take triggering a bank of high power SCRs across the capacitor.
