Hi everyone.
i want to build a small box contains a arduino that controls all 220v ac home switches by opto-Tariacs.
It will be able to control the timing of all the switches.

after i will finish that, i want to sell it. (it is a very consumed thing...)

how can i start?
(i am a third year electronic engineering student, so i have some (but small) knowledge)

1) Hardware Specification
2) Hardware block diagram
3) Software/ Functional specification
4) Create Flow charts
5) Design electronic hardware
6) Design mechanical hardware
7) Prototype and test hardware
8) Write/ debug software
9) Test
10) Return to 8

If you want to sell it, there's a whole load more expense and hoops to jump through.

And, submit a sample to UL for safety testing.
Create a Limited Liability Corporation so your customers don't sue you personally if the product causes their house to burn down or if the product electrocutes someone.

understood.
maybe this project is a wrong idea,
but i am really trying to find a simple (but not so simple) project, to achieve some "experience" to my career. connecting to 220v is a bad idea.

i am trying to build something cool, not just blinking led.

do someone has an idea?

When on a job search saying "I built X so I could do Y in my house" is a solid statement of your ability.

You only need say "I built X with sales of Y units" when talking to venture capitalists for a capital investment.

ok.
so i need to think about neccecerity.
but all things that i can think about - somone made it before.
today i thought to build a looper - for playing chords on electric guitar, and it playing it, and the player can play solos on it.
but it exists.

to bad...
