connecting a current meter to a pc

can anyone please help..

how will i be able to measure the current in a plug and then transfer/export the reading(data) to a computer??

I have done this as a three phase unit. I used a DAC and read it through the parallel port. Then wrote a VB program to display the results.

You can use a pic microchip with ADC and a stunt resistor and send that by rs232 very easy.
not to highjack, but I think it's related to OP's post; would using a shunt resistor give you a useful current measurement for calculating apparent power or real power?
