I' in need of an inverter that' in the 2500-3000 watt range but I will be hardwiring it and only need 1 output. The smaller the better. Does anyone know of one? Or of something close?

 

"Compact inverter" could mean about 100 different things.

Please be more detailed and specific in regards to your question.

 

If you mean 3000W from a 12V source, that’s 250A. That’s more than most starters draw. That means you’ll need heavy cables, as short as possible, and careful attention to any switches fuses or relays.

 

Valid points. When I say compact, I mean I don' need any bells and whitles. I just need 1 input and 1 output. And the 3000 watts is over powered for my applcation, I just would rather be over than under. I' trying to run a 2000watt peak treadmill off of this. I do plan to eventually use li-ion cells to power it so I can up the input volts but thought I would keep it 12 or 24 so I can use a lead acid for testing. I do have another post asking for help with all this.

You might be able to bypass the treadmill's AC input stage and tap into the DC supply. Many, maybe all these things run off DC. If you could get a 48V battery supply and an efficient DC-DC converter to boost it to 90V or whatever the thing uses, that would free you from those enormous currents. But you need info on the the treadmill to have any hope of making such a hack.

I have all the info I think one needs. The motor has a.c. going into a Samsung mc-20. The m.c. has 0 to 100vdc out and is controlled using a potentiometer. I am doing a youtube series on this build and have shot the first video. Robert Thoreson is the channel name.
