I just started reading a Communications textbook [Principles of Electronic Communication Systems - Louis E. Frenzel-McGraw-Hill] , well in the first chapter[ch1:intro to electronic communication] the following questions (at the end of chapter) can not be solved, can you help ?

Why audio signals are not transmitted directly by electromagnetic waves ?

What is a generic synonym for radio ?

unrelated question:
I just want to learn the backgrounds to take "Electronic Communication intro" course and a "Microprocessors intro" course ?
What prerequisite courses (and textbooks~recommended) have the the above ?? tell me separatelly.
tell me eg. for first you need "general electronics - analog" & "general electronics - digital" bgd only.

1. Think of the nature of an acoustic wave. The answer should be obvious.

2. Is there really a more generic term than "radio"?

Insofar as your interests are Microprocessors I strongly suggest that you first study Basic electronics and then advancing you toward more complex studies in advanced electronics. That would make you well rounded enough to entertain the subject of Microprocessors.
