Hi all,

I am designing an EMG circuit and am a bit confused on how the reference electrode circuit should be constructed.
The information available is a bit vague and nearly all the circuits are somewhat different.
Since I am using a 5V supply (with 2.5V being used as the virtual ground), would the circuit shown below work for the common/reference electrode?

 

I would hazard a guess that this will not work. You want your reference electrode to be at earth ground. Hence you have to use a bipolar power supply.

 

@MrChips Thanks for your reply. The circuit will be battery powered. Should the reference electrode be at earth ground in such case?
