I build a single stage CoilGun and I want to further optimize it , so I am interested where does the ferromagnetic projectile really start to slow, I know the general idea it slows when it reaches the center of the coil if the coil is still charged, but I think it starts to slow even before that, like when it is still approaching the center like in the picture attached. The ferromagnetic projectile becomes a temporary magnet so half of it is North Pole shown is red and the other half is South Pole.
So my question is does the projectile starts to slow exactly after the position shown in the picture or it is still accelerating at that point towards the center ?
