Government funding wants results, otherwise they would be hauled in front of the Congressional Committees to answer why. A virtual hanging and loss of funds.

Government funding has the same effect as crack cocaine for those receiving the funds.

C'mon! As if you pay no tax ever, right? I'm not privy to your finances, you can tell about your taxes better than I ever may...
You got it on the first try.
Your right, I don't pay any taxes. I don't owe anybody anything and I live on social security and long term capital gains.
My biggest expense is the golf membership and I like it that way. :D
I used to pay taxes, but that was before LEDs for home lighting.

Greenpeace filed FOIA requests because Willie Soon received government researched dollars. He had to reveal all his sources of income including the one where Koch had given him 65k to study the solar effects on climate. Greenpeace makes a living on filing FOIA and has information to drop a dime to the press on a moment's notice ... the microsecond Greenpeace disagrees with someone.

The members here are in disagreement. A co-founder of Greenpeace is a skeptic as well. Greenpeace, the organization, is a believer.

EPA models show that use of special gasoline blends reduces vehicle emissions by varying degrees. California’s special blend reduces emissions the most—VOCs by 25-29 percent, NOx by 6 percent compared with conventional gasoline, while also reducing emissions of toxic chemicals. In contrast, the most common special gasoline blend (used largely in the Gulf Coast region) reduces VOCs by 12-16 percent and NOx by less than 1 percent compared with conventional gasoline. The extent of reductions remains uncertain, because they rely, at least in part, on data regarding how special blends affect emissions from older vehicles, and these estimates have not been comprehensively validated for newer vehicles and emissions controls. Regarding air quality, EPA and others have concluded that improvements are, in part, attributable to the use of special blends.
That pretty much says it all right there. As of 2004 the differences just between different modern gasoline blends could make up for as much as 29% less emissions VOC's (that smog making stuff) than others and that just comparing between 2004 grades not the old blends used in the pre 1980's erras that were well known to be hugely more polluting than today's worst fuel blends. :(

Note the poll on this site indicates that about 60% are NOT concerned that global warming and climate change poses a serious threat.

I'm a respondent for another poll that actually selects the people for questioning (it's not an open poll). Most respondents for that poll also do NOT feel that global warming is a threat either.

Personally, I believe someone is making big $$$ off the issue of purported climate change and that's why it's being promoted like a religion.

Everything costs more in California but its' a nice place to live.
Could be in Europe and pay twice as much or Saudi Arabia and pay $.50.
Hmm, wonder why it's so cheap is Saudi Arabia? Oh! Maybe it's the price of oil. :D

And you think you don't pay taxes? Saint naivete! every time you buy anything, anything at all, you pay sales tax, you pay payroll tax for the company that produced what you've just bought, you pay all taxes embedded into material costs, you pay tax on gasoline burned to deliver that thing into the store you bought it from and so on. I could've continue for pages...

Plus, at the time of Vietnam war yet, Russian and Chinese intelligence services found out that with USA you may win war that is militarily lost, by propaganda. So, they decided, if it is so, why not win competition between socialism and capitalism the same way? Enough propaganda and Americans will destroy their own economy by themselves, without single shot fired, exactly as we observe right now.

N.B. Anyone noticed that not Russia nor China give a damn about MMGW? Because they know it's a hoax and they perpetrated it.

Yeah, California's a nice place to live provided that you don't mind any of the following:

 Millions of people and open-ended population growth.
 A landscape dominated by streets, cars and buildings.
:( Round-the-clock traffic congestion.
o_O A chronic drought and water shortage.
 An emerging garbage and solid waste crisis.
 High taxes and bloated government.
 Plate tectonics and earthquakes.
:p Politicians and rampant government fraud.

It would be real easy to think that is true, except the consensus among the scientific community is world wide. If it's a conspiracy, it's a beauty.
There would be money in cap and trade I suppose, but that seems dead.
Where is it? I don't know. I'm just enjoying a good debate.:D

I forget, weren't we talking about LED lighting? ;)
Those same taxes are there for regular lights or LEDs.
And don't forget the use tax on electricity. Led's save there to.
And I don't have to drive to the store so often to get new lights.
