Thanks Parkera that's made things clearer.
I'll check the spec using info you provided, might even get a few different ranges to see what works best.
With a bit of luck or a few prayers it might cure the problem, if not it's a new enclosure.
I'll let you know how it goes, and thanks again.

Welcome to the Forum eetech00. -
Page 6, Post 103 is generally the complete and final circuit. Note: this is a simulation circuit, so there are some minor differences. For the most part, the final circuit was developed starting around page 3 or 4. – Good Luck.
  • Copey84 is using an LM358. It is ½ of an LM324.
  • R12 represents a 1-Meg scope probe and is not part of the circuit.
  • The relay coil is represented by L1
  • A different microphone may require some components to be a different value. You will have to read the previous posts carefully to learn how to arrive at the best values for the microphone chosen.

Hi Parkera, just letting you know the ferrite bead solved the problem.
I installed the clip on type over a month ago and I've had no problems since.
Glad I tried it first as it means I can keep the original enclosure, no wastage.

Anyway the circuit is working well and I'm pleased with the finished set up, it was worth all the effort.
Thanks again Parkera, all the best.
