I don't think we are comparing things of equal complexity. That's the point; the thing of lesser complexity, more or less, is taught first. You may think mesh analysis is the same complexity as branch analysis; I don't. My textbooks don't and my classes didn't. Mesh analysis may not be 100 times more complex than branch analysis, but its greater complexity of whatever ratio provides the rationale for teaching it first.

Well my point was simple, that you can not be certain within a zero percent error margin that it was because he did not learn how to do it any oher way. But do you really think this issue deserves this much discussion, that's my next question for you? I do appreciate your interest here though either way.

Oh wow really? I thought everyone had watched the program at least once, that's why i made a reference to it. I have to warn you though, it's so funny that you might get addicted to watching it. Let me give you a quick example of how a SP episode of this discussion might go...

Gerald: "Randy, did you hear what happened on the web today?"
Randy: "No, why, what happened?"
Gerald: "Some guy posted a reply, that said that he could not figure out why anyone would want to reverse only one current arrow direction in a circuit analysis problem."
Randy: "Nooo wayyyy, really?"
Gerald: "No i am not kidding, it's true."
Randy: "My God, so it really is the end of the world as we know it."
Gerald: "Yes, i am afraid so, but what are we going to tell the kids?"
Randy: "We cant tell them the truth, they will never believe it. We'll just have to tell them it was because of Global Warming."

Note on SP they often do stuff like that to make a political point. BTW the show centers around 4 kids of age about 9 or 10 and their parents, teachers, town police officer, even God. It's funny as all heck
So for a good laugh check it out. Be warned though that some of the jokes are a little off color, more for adults than children.

Also as i was saying before, i just dont think that talking about why the OP did what they did is that profitable. I think it would be better to find out from them.
For example, they might think that the current in a battery might have to go in a certain direction, or something like that. In that case, we could tell them that it was not necessary. If they do in fact say that they have not learned some type of analysis yet, then we could help them with that instead. So either way once we find out for sure, then we know what to explain and what we dont have to explain. it's simple really.
