Hi
I am building a boost converter to track the maximum power point.
It is operated at 25000hz with maximum output voltage of 40 volts.
What is the right choice for a diode and transistor?
Thanks in advance.

Rectifiers need to be fast soft recovery or Shottky barrier for that frequency. 35nS was fairly common for higher resolution CRT PC monitors.

SMPSU transistors are of a general fabrication type for fast switching, but most will be high voltage types for direct off line converters.

MOSFETS tend to be faster, but big current means big gate area and capacitance. design of the gate driver may take a bit of effort.
