I need to identify this chip on an hp pavilion 14. It is getting hot when the charger is plugged in.

Thanks in advance.IMG_20211201_204732.jpg

That part has house numbering. It is very unlikely you will be able to find out what it is, and even if you do there is a very good chance the only source will be another identical board.

Take it to an authorized HP repair facility. Be prepared for them to try to sell you a replacement unit.
And bring a credit cad to pay for it, because most folks do not carry enough cash to pay for HP replacement items.

Also, just because a part gets hot does not mean it has failed. Is there a problem with the operation of whatever the thing is?

Yup. The laptop power/charging light comes on for a few seconds and then turns off.
This component gets extremely hot until the laptop turns off. There was also a short on the board until this component was removed.
