Hi guys

What is the safe and easy way to charge a 8.4V NiMH battery for backup power supply. My device is power by 12V adapter normally. The NiMH battery is only used when the 12V is lost.

I don't expect to use the NiMH battery at all as we don't usually have power cut, but lets say we normally have power cut 1-2 each year.

Can I just use C/20 and leave it charge the battery 24/7?

The package says standard charge 16 hours at C/10.

Here is what I think it will work:

Here is the battery I want to use:

Thanks guys!!

At a sufficiently low charge rate, NiMH can remain totally cool and yet suffer from overcharge.
But it doesn't mention any recommended standby charge rate, does anyone have any other source?
