I hear ya. I'm going to try it both ways. I'll report back.It is not likely that changing the input resistor will produce an effect that you can hear.

Interesting about the Piezo-Pickups. I helped T. Herald, maker of the "Herald"guitars, about 35 years ago as he was experimenting with Piezo elements on acoustic guitars. I never followed up on the work, it may be that he took my advice and learned how to solder for himself. And I have a"strat" of my own. Now all I need to do is learn to play it and acquire some musical talent.A Les-Paul sounds like a Les-Paul because it has Humbuckers,
that are spaced-out in a particular manner,
and a particular Neck-Length.
So, it's not technically possible to make a Strat sound like a Les-Paul, but You can get "close" by
swapping the Pickups to Humbuckers, and doing some creative carpentry and Pick-Guard work.
The Les-Paul "sound" can not be replicated with Electrical changes,
but it can be duplicated with a LapTop-Computer and the appropriate Modeling-Software.
I would rather have Warmoth build me 2 Custom-Guitars, each with it's own distinctive sound/Pickups.
They run about ~$1,200.oo each, but are worth every penny.
Pickup spacing and position affects the "Constructive", and "Destructive" Wave action at certain Frequencies.
The same goes for Single-Coils vs Humbuckers.
( Humbuckers tend to "smear" or "blend-together" individual Notes/Frequencies ).
The same goes for Neck-Length.
This is also why Piezo-Pickups have a very distinctive sound,
because they are the Bridge, and are not spaced away from the Bridge by some arbitrary distance.
Have fun !!!

Have you ever had noise problems with that pickup selector switch on the Fender Strat??I have Fender Strat, Tele, Jazz bass, Fender Super Champ XD modelling amp, and Rumble 100 bass amp.
I don't care much about all the fancy tonal stuff. Funny thing is, I generally select and play with the cleanest sound I can get. In fact, I have a gig to play on Thursday outdoors. Hope it doesn't rain. We've had two straight days of torrential downpours and major streets and highways are flooded.
Not that I can recall. I have had problems with poor contacts on the switch and I had to jiggle it to get to work. The switch has been replaced since then.Have you ever had noise problems with that pickup selector switch on the Fender Strat??
