To their surprise, they discovered the observed lensing could just as readily be accounted for by a new model of gravity, without invoking dark matter.

What is says about me... is that maybe I've been taking too seriously and giving too much credit to New Scientist?

 

Well maybe but I thought it was interesting. I've never believed dark matter was more than a kludge so I guess I'm a receptive audience for this piece of rejected undergraduate work.

Kludge or not, it's still the biggest mystery in physics. And I'm still hoping it's answered in my lifetime.
