I did run a finger over the location of the 24vdc rectifier, it sits off the circuit boards and is fastened to the alluminium chassis of the deck, its quite a meaty looking bridge.....I have yet to run the deck for any time so dont yet know if there are any further issues with heat.....you can just see it tucked away

 

It's not the rectifier that dissipates the heat, it's transistor TR1.

The 24vdc voltage regulator is also embedded in the main chassis, it is also a hefty looking component 2N5034 with 80w power dissipation at the collector, It was in fact one of the number of components I had to replace, along with the transformer during this restoration.....it has been quite a journey to be honest....all of the 50 year old capacitors have been replaced with new versions which are much smaller, I will monitor the heat from it and report back.

Ok....as promised here is the 3w resistor I ordered, 25w turned up instead.....don't think its an issue so its gone in

 

And attached the voltage regulator to the chassis.....will give it a day or so playing and see that nothing gets hot.....thanks to everyone for the instruction.....couldn't have done this without you ;¬)
