Hi guys, newbie looking for some assistance please.
I have a mechanically sound hot foil press which has a faulty control unit.

I have a 400 w cartridge heater type k thermocouple and hope to use the controller (image attached), my question is regarding the wiring diagram, is the component linked to 1,3 and 4, built into the controller, Or do I need to hard wire one in ?Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks
Regards Richard

It's hard to understand what You are saying or asking.

The Controller pictured will not switch the Heating-Element directly
as it appears to be rated for ~1-Amp,
which would drive a Solid-State-Relay just fine,
which would then switch the Power of your Heating-Element.

When selecting a SSR, note that the Element may
pull 3 to 4 times its rated current for the first few seconds of operation,
but possibly not that extreme,
You should manually test the Cold-Start-Up Current requirements with a Clamp-On-Ammeter.

It is not clear what type of Sensor the controller is designed to work with.
You can test it with your existing Thermocouple without much fear of damage,
but no guarantee of accuracy,
so verify the accuracy with a known-good Thermometer.

Hi thanks for responding, sorry my post wasn't clear. I was trying to understand the wiring diagram on the back of the controller,I think you answered my question by confirming I need a SSR ,thanks again
