Long arc circling the armature is usually an armature fault/short etc.
Under brush sparking, often heavy load.

 

When I was a teen I made a fan using a discarded brushed motor. Then I was visited by the RF cops because a neighbor complained about radio and TV interference. The RF cops explained the problem and took away my fan, then the neighbor who complained gave me a new brushless fan.
