Hi gents/ladies,

This is my first post so please bear with me.

I want to do some repair work on my tube/valve amplifier and need some advice on discharging the filter capacitors. I was thinking of making a discharge tool comprising of a 10Kohm resistor, wire and crocodile clips.
I don't know the formula for the time it takes to discharge the capacitors using the 10K resistor. Could someone help this blind fool out.

The amp contains the following capacitors;-
220nF 400v Poly, 100nF 350v Poly, 22uF 450 Axial, 220uF 400v Radial, 1000uF 63v Axial.

Yours,

Phil.

The formula written on my wall says, Vo=dV (e^-t/rc)

so Vcap = original Vcap times e to the negative time over (resistance x capacitance)
