Hello, I'm reading about a scientifical experiment involving a simple circuit using a capacitor bank with 800 uF capacitance being charged up to 5.5 kV, however I don't know how many capacitors should be used in order to safely charge them. Have you got any ideas?

A conservative design would utilize around 50% of the working voltage rating; so you'd need about 10 kV.

 

This sounds like a candidate for a Darwin Award.
