Hey guys, it still depends if the final output is desired to be analog (to control something) or digital (to display a result).

I have seen 555 versions of my meter. They are both more complicated and less reliable.

There are, of course, other methods of measuring capacitance than oscillators.
For instance measuring the slope of a charging curve.

But these are all more complicated than than the OP so far requires.
