Can you ID what this box may be? And what a part inside is?

Hi, I'm a maker and trying to ID what this box might be or was attached to. It has a metal top with vents, has a fuse knob and looks like white and red panel jacks. Old amplifier hook up? Also what are the 2 cylindrical posts that I circled in the last picture? Are they heat sinks? It doesn't look like they're in a spiral, so doesn't look like a bellows or spring. There's old Bendix transistors, so guessing 1950's era item. Any help or would be most appreciated!

The transistors may give a clue. The 2N1186A's are gremanium PNP. A datasheet for what looks like 2N7906 didn't pop up tight away. Can you confirm that number?

What does the bottom look like? Any other labels (I guess not)?

Hello,

Under the towers there can also be transistors in TO60 housing:

There are also diodes with a comparable housing.

The power transistors are 2N1906 and 2N1136A, both PNP Ge type.
Based on the symmetry of the layout I am going to guess that it is some kind of power converter or voltage regulator.
There are two jacks shown on either side of the fuse, red and white.
I would think that there is another connection or pair of wires on the unit somewhere not seen in the photos.

Thank you! Any clue what the towers are or called? We've been trying to figure those out. It looks like they're screwed on, with the threads inside. I have a picture from the bottom, I need to find it, but it has something glued to it, covering up the bottom wires and connectors. There's aren't any number or markings on the house for a maker. It must be something that was attached to a larger item. Here's some other pictures. - Jeff

The towers appear to be cooling towers. Unscrew those and you should find a stud mounted semiconductor device as Bertus already pointed out.
