Of course, but somehow, I do not picture the guy living in a van in the Philippines previously living in a modern apartment building with non-metallic plumbing.
Oh you think because I'm french Canadian that I have standards I promise you, I don't, a roof over my head and a door I can lock and I'm 1 happy pepper (racist name for Quebecer)... In the van I'll have exactly the same amount of room that I have now.. here I have 20 or 50 sqm... Only difference is in the van I won't pay rent or electricity,.. water will be from my daughters home across the road.. internet too, really I don't need much, I grew up poor in a socialist country anyway... Oh and I forgot to y that I served CAF for most of my life so I can fall asleep in most conditions.. but I got older and became spoiled with air conditioning

Also, a vehicle’s ground is isolated from the actual “earthed ground” via some 10 cm of rubber of the tire’s sidewall.
What brand of Van are you using? Must be a Japanese one. There are also videos of Japanese guys living in their vans, which are smaller than their North American ones.

Interesting indeed about living in a van. Quite a different life-style, certainly. Is your van also drive-able and roadworthy?? I have seen a van with a failed engine used as a living quarters. But not near my area, because the local government people have no way to collect taxes from such a "portable residence." My concern would be about freezing in the extreme cold winter weather.

I kinda wanna have something reliable and something that I can sort of get free fuel so I found an import Toyota hiace van.... Diesel with mechanical fuel pump... And if you want to ask what free fuel, back in my 20s during the summer I would filter waste cooking oil and poor it into my Mercedes 200 D.. 50/50 with diesel and no vehicle modification... Drove from Montreal to Florida on 18$ of diesel....

Tbh, 1 or 2 of you said that if I have a copper wire going from ground prong to metal body of vehicle that I will not harm the laptop or the vehicle, that's it I'm satisfied, you guys can abandon the thread if you like.. maybe I wrecked the desktop computer.. or maybe it was used, I'm new to capitalism, I'm not used to salespeople being dishonest... .. whatever, data wasn't lost, but the MSI gf65 thinue10 Canada version laptop is about the priciest computer that I ever purchased from newegg... So naturally I want to cradle it and tell it that it will be okay, thank you for your answers, I am satisfied, aurevoir

whatever data wasn't lost (edited by TR)
I had a computer die on me. The hard drive was still viable and had some stuff I wanted to recover. iMac 2010 computer and nobody wanted the job. Searching on line I found an adapter that I could plug that hard drive into and plug the other end into my new iMac and retrieve the information along with a lot of photographs. If you still have your old dead comp you can probably retrieve the info as long as the hard drive is still working.

I have done the same thing as described in post #27. IT WORKS! But it is not at all the same as backup and restore. And I have used it with both windowsNT and win7, I have no idea as to what the current OS might allow.
